Neat and compact.

It would drive you nuts trying to do a larger patio. There is a greater chance for the joints to wander on bigger jobs. Avoid cross roads though, if you ever do another one. Always 'T' junctions. (y)
 
Ah I get it… I live in a row of terraced houses and it’s a path that runs across the back of all of the houses so would look stupid if I change my section
Well when you look out of your window at your brand new yard, you might want to see something better than those crappy old slabs and random concrete patches. Even just relaying and tidying it up would be better. You could even relay and get then to harmonise with the new slabs. It just looks so random as it is.
