Hi,
Can anyone advise where to check to see if gas sensing tube is blocked on Promax boiler and whether this can be done by a non Corgi person ?
Thanks.

Sorry no.....this would involve gas critical work. Who has suggested it may be blocked and what are the symptoms?

Hi powell30. Thnks for your quick response and valued advice.
Followed flowchart [page 40 Ignition Lockout] in Inst & Serv manual provided with installation several years back. Boiler first failed last week, then worked briefly on Sat and failed. Replaced electrodes and it worked for a couple of hours on Tuesday and then failed again. Same failed condition for both CH & DHW.
When switched on it attempts to start up, but after several relay switching cycles it goes into ingnition lockout without gas being ignited. [This was the same status before electrodes changed yet it worked briefly after they were changed - not sure why ?].
On checking along with flowchart, we have following symptoms :- subsequent to a reset -pump, fan & spark generator all operate , power goes to gas valve lead.
Next step is :'Is sensing tube blocked ?'
If Yes -> unblock tube [but don't know where to look or how to unblock or whether it needed a Corgiman, hence the query?]
If no -> replace gas valve [this would definitely need a Corgiman.]

Would appreciate any thoughts you may have before calling out an expert.
Thanks.

I appreciate your response. The gas sensing tube is unlikely to be blocked. The most likely suspect is the gas valve. Unfortunately to check/change either of these will require the services of an rgi as to check the sensing tube would require the gas valve to be removed. Best guess is the gas valve/solenoid has gone and needs replacing.....please call an rgi engineer or baxi who do a fixed price repair

Thanks for clarifying this. Will try and get someone from BG, nPower or HeaTeam on fixed price basis. Have a good evening.
