Protecting Brickwork under DPC

Our front elevation DPC is considerably higher than the level of the grass, we want to level up and raise the height of the soil/grass up to one brick below the double brick DPC.

While moving soil around I noticed some of the pointing was in poor condition.

I want to improve this before I shove soil back up against it. The pointing I am fine with but I was thinking... what else could I do to protect the brickwork below the DPC? Membrane behind the soil? ....is it important?

There's little you can do to 'protect' brickwork below the dpc.

If you cover it with a membrane, that will only serve to trap water against the brick and make matters worse.

Ideally, bricks below dpc should be frost-resistant. Any poorer-quality bricks should be at least left exposed so that they can air off. When pointing, keep the mortar softer than the brick.

I thought using membrane might be a problem. Is there any type of paintable sealant maybe?

If not I will just point and push soil against wall when dry
