Protecting oak window board while plastering?

I've got a piece of oak window board. I'm going to fix it using grip fill (onto bare brickwork, should be ok).

The plasterer is coming tomorrow to plaster. I'll let him plaster it in. This will be a skim coat only. He's plastering onto painted brickwork prepared with Febbond.

Do I need to paint the oak with anything to stop it absorbing water from the plaster?

If it was me I would put the oak window cills in after the plasterer & give it time for the skim to dry out, prevents all that shrinking swelling and plaster getting onto oak. Also I would screw some ply or Mr Mdf onto brickwork first then stick down oak

Do not allow any gypsum plaster products anywhere near raw oak until it has been sealed.

Thanks very much. Yes, will fix after plasterer, onto timber.

By the way, what would you use to seal it. This is the window in a downstairs toilet. Top hung, small, window opener, which will only actually open an inch or two. Basin is in another room. So it shouldn't get wet. But I bet somebody will put bottles of bleach on it1
