A question for flooring experts. Namely Matty Supra or anyone else who knows.

The saga started when my in laws discovered a leak from the washing machine cold feed. That repaired the insurance sent various people in to dry the floor. I have a sm and tested the floor to find the readings high just before the company was to issue a dryness certificate. A new company came in and then attempted to dry the concrete floor. Engineered when is due to go on this and I believe the moisture content of the concrete should be below 200 wme. This second company has issued a certificate of dryness. I tested the floor to find the readings at 800 and off the scale. This was read with a Protimeter SM. The company sent their bloke in who read it at 150-180 wme. This is the only test he has done I think he should do a humidity test on the floor. Could 2 protimeters read that much out. I have read the instruction manual for his and it reads to a nominal depth of 15mm where the SM reads to a ND of 19mm. Could this be the reason for the difference. This expert, who is being paid by the insurance company reckons his machine (MMS) retails at £1700.00 I think he has been ripped off. more like £500-700). In your opinion what is the cheapest way of conducting a relative humidity test as I believe this is the only recognised way of testing concrete for moisture.

Thank you i advance for your help whoever you may be,

Kind regards,

Harvey G
