PT Timber Gate Joints

I am making 2 gates for a double gate in driveway. I was thinking to keep it simple and just use half lap joints for the frame corners with glue and screws. For the diagonal was going to put angled mortise and tenon joints in. However as I was planning on using PT timber, I was a bit concerned about shrinkage with M+T joints.

Rough sketchup of the frame;



I plan to finish it with just vertical fence boards as it will be matching in with the existing fence.

Any advice on what would be best here for the diagonal?

Playing around in sketchup, this is what I am looking at...

half lap is ok where the the load is compressing the timber or fairley static[no wind load or heavy bashing]
in your plan you are taking the high load point off mid span and removing half the strength is it strong enough ??? time will tell
you need to build allowing for expansion and contraction
