Hi,
I've just had a heated towel rail installed by a plumber.
There has since been a small leak which i will get him to come to sort.
I'm just wondering - Should there be this much PTFE tape visible at the joint?
Thanks

That could have been much tidier, especially with black valves and pipe collars.

It looks better than a puddle of water.

Ask him to tidy it up if it bothers you.

If I'd done that myself I wouldn't have been satisfied with it - it looks a mess.
Where is the leak coming from? If it's that joint, the "plumber" may have used so much tape that it is actually preventing the tail screwing into the radiator fully.

The tape you can see, serves no purpose at all, once the job is done, with no leaks, you can safely remove any visible tape. The only tape serving any purpose in sealing, is hidden inside the joint.
