I noticed the PTFE tape in the towel rail has turned slightly orange (where the chrome fitting actually screws into the towel rail). The towel rail is under a year old (fitted by me). The previous towel rail (not fitted by me) must have been about 6-7 years old and developed a leak, as did a radiator - this seems quite unusual. Makes me a bit worried about what's floating around in the system. I flushed it with sentinal recently.

Does the orange PTFE tape mean I have some sort of rusty leak or does it just get wet/discoloured from normal bathroom steam, etc? What should I do to sort it out?

Thanks in advance.

Could be a slight leak dis-colouring it, or could be some scale formation.
