Hi,
Can anyone give advice re problem with extractor fan. Have just moved house, has bathroom fan operated via a pullcord switch, the light is a separate pull cord switch. Outside bathroom door is what I assume to be the isolator switch for the fan. Socket with on/off - contains a fuse.

With switch outside door at on, pullcord to on and no sign of life from the fan. The red light on the pullcord switch does not come on. Have tried another fuse in the switch outside door, still nothing... As pullcord switch light not coming on, wondering if no power getting to the switch?

We initially assumed fan was knackered as looked old, so went and bought another. However, still nothing with the new one wired up.

Any clues?
Thanks

If you're certain that the cord is for the fan and not an isolator for an electric shower?

Either way, don't trust the neon on the switch as a true indication of whether or not there's voltage present, they don't tend to last long before they stop working. You need to get yourself a multimeter or a Steinel Combi Check or similar test device (NOT a neon screwdriver!) if you want to stand any chance of identifying the fault.
