Electric shower was going a bit funny. I checked the pull cord switch and one terminal was loose. In the process of putting the switch back I overtightened something and broke it. Having removed the switch I've seen the neutral cable to the loose terminal is a bit black (see photo). Can I reuse this cable with a new switch or should the cable be replaced? Thanks in advance.

Cut the cable sheathing back and likewise the copper, if there is room. It will expose the extent of the blackening and hopefully fresh unblackened copper and cable.

Thanks will try that tomorrow. Hopefully there is enough slack.

All sorted. Copper was clean under the burnt insulation so only needed trimming back a bit and there was plenty of slack on all cables thankfully. The only difference was the new switch only had one earth terminal so I stuck both earths into it. The old switch had two.

Thanks again for your help. Love this forum!
