Hi My pull switch for my shower kept blowing the 45 amp fuse so i got a new one to change
My problem is the old one I have taken out where the cables are screwed in are marked Live and Neutral on one side on the other it is marked Neutral and Live which is fine But the new one i have got is marked Neutral in Neutral Out on one side and on the other Live in and Live Out
Has anyone come across this or can advice. Derek

1) How do you know it was the switch and not the shower or the cable that was to blame? Oh well - you'll find out...

2) What is it that you don't understand about Live & Neutral and/or In & Out?

I assumed it was the pull switch could not see no bare wires the old pull switch clockwise is Live Neutral Live Neutral the new pull switch is Live in Live out Neutral in and Neutral Out cant understand why Derek

Yup - L&N in, L&N out, just like the new switch, only not labelled.

Did the old switch not have a neon, and the new one does?

So that you put the right cable in the right side. If there's a neon, and you don't it'll be on all the time, and people don't like that, and don't want to have to guess which side is which. Even if there isn't a neon, I'll bet the same switch is available with one, and the makers won't want to have two parts in their inventory when one will do.

Use your multimeter to identify which is the supply cable and which is the load, if you can't tell from the direction they travel.

Yes.

...or can advice. Derek
Put the screwdriver down and back away. You shouldn't be going near such an installation with your absence of any basic understanding.
