Hello

I am looking for some advice on our central heating system please.

Money is quite limited, and if it's something I could possibly try to fix ourselves, I'll willingly give it a go, however if you think it's definitely something for an expert, please could you let me know your thoughts on the problem?

I noticed the other weekend that the radiator in the hallway (without a thermostat control on it), was getting warm, despite the thermostat in the hall being set to 15 degrees, and showing as off. The system was silent.

A couple of days later, the radiator in the front room - with a thermostat valve (switched to off), was also getting warm.

I switched the system on, using the thermostat, and at that point, I've always been able to hear the system fire up. It did so, but then started making weird noises, almost like a pulsing on/off. All the radiator valves were switched to on, and they all got hot. Boiler downstairs was lit & showing a green light.

The main noise was coming from the Boilermate system in our bedroom. After about 10 minutes, the noise settled down, but then started again about 30 mins later.

I've bled the radiators, they thermostat is switched to off again.

We have a Potterton Supima & a Boilermate 2000.

Could I have your thoughts?
