No central heating. Hot water ok. Took off Modulation circuit board and found blackened area around one of the pins on PL1.
Like to try a soldered repair but wondered if anyone can recommend best method to clean this area (wire wool?) and do you need to remove the green film that seems to cover the rear of the board in order to expose the metal to solder to?
Not had much experience with PCB's - thanks for help.

Buy a fibreglass PCB cleaning pen and 15W soldering iron from Maplin or similar, clean the area until the track around the pin is shiny copper, and use a resin cored 60/40 solder (not plumbers' super acid metal eater flux)

mine went there too.

I just soldered a wire from pL1 to the terminal on pL5 to wher it used to connect

what you do is up to you
