Hello,

My current board has just started arcing across one of the top connectors. (I assumed from a dry joint and not from another fault). I have ordered a replacement board.

However, on this PCB model type , there is a variable resistor in the bottom centre.

What does this resistor vary and when I fit the new PCB, how will I know that it is adjusted correctly?

P.s. I am not a plumber, though I understand electronics.

Thanks in advance

If you fit the wrong one, you will create a thermo-nuclear reaction that may (or may not) incur the wrath of heman and skeletor. This will melt you.

Or, you could just re-solder the arcing connection thus saving you copius amounts of cash. Seeing as you 'understand electronics', I'm a little baffled as to why you have not already done that and had to post here.

You haven't got the perm pilot and electronic boards mixed up have you?

Mr. W.

Arcing to the point where there is now a large hole where the pin should be.

IMO The current PCB is FUBAR.

I hope I haven't got the boards mixed up, only going on what the current board number says. This board has this variable resistor thingy which if I get wrong setting could in fact bring forth the four horseman of the apocalypse, or at least an angry wife.

The black pot controls the CH boiler input power.

If its a two bed flat turn it until the flame is about 1/3 the full height. If a three bed semi then set at about 1/2 max flame.

Of course an RGI would measure the heat loss of the property, compare it with the measured power output of the rads and set the CH output to match that.
