pva mix ratio

i need to replaster a wall which has bare plaster on it already,what ratio of pva mix should i use to seal the wall,and what should i use before the plaster goes on,i have been advised,but im getting different advice of people,so i could really know what everyone else uses to make up my own mind

5:1 is the accepted ratio, however I find 10:1 works ok as well (but then I'm a cheapskate).

you seal it first with 6-1 ratio
allow to dry then put another coat of 4-1 just before you plaster it
