PVC Frame Compression Centre part??

Hi,

have just fitted a pvc door in the side of the garage and it came with what the instructions called a compression centre part (see attached pic) and talks about fitting it to the frame but doesn't say where... I've tried searching on Google but not found out too much... Was just wondering what the purpose of this is and does it matter where on the frame it's attached please?
