Can anyone advise on the best way to protect PVC gully I've put in. Laying some mot type 1 for new patio which will be compacted down and was thinking of using either building sand or sharp sand to put around the gully and top of drain pipe where it enters the gully. Have used pea gravel elsewhere but as this is near the surface the pea gravel is moving around when compacting the hardcore.

Preferably keep the pea gravel underneath and around the sides but don't worry about putting some mot over the top or around the sides.
You could also cover a few feet of it in concrete if you have enough depth.
