What qualifications do you need to be an electrician in UK?

I'm assuming 17th edition wiring regs and completed a part P course, is this right?

Do you need anything else?

Start with C&G 2330 whitch is the foundation course. 2 years.
Then C&G 2381 (will be 2382 in a couple of weeks). 1 year
Then a Level 3 NVQ whitch you can start during the other courses.

That gets you the basic qualification.

Then C&G 2391 Inspection and Test
And C&G 2377-02 Appliance Testing

There are other courses as well.

These are based on day release cource times. You can do fast track courses or as a full time apprentice

2381/2382 is just a matter of reading the regs, so long as you have an understanding of basic principles. Needn't take you more that a couple of weeks if you spend an hour each night. A course is really not necessary, IMO.

Not many schemes require the 2330, all require the 2382, most require the 2391.

But If your'e not familiar with approved document part P, you'll fail your assesment. You also need a copy of it too.

And a copy of BS7671:2008, and the On-Site Guide wont go a miss either.

And you need a copy of this too:
