My 1950s ex local authority house has quarry tile window sills.
In some rooms these have been covered with glossy white bathroom type tiles.
I think they've done this to hide a gap between the original sill and the uPVC window frame.

As you can imagine, this is beyond ugly, especially as the raw outside edge is 'enhanced' with the addition of a glued on plastic strip.

Is this a clear case of complete windowsill replacement?
Or has anyone got any bright ideas for disguising the current mess?

If you have enough depth, you could get a wooden sill fitted/stuck over the old tiles, by using a good grip adhesive (Sticks Like ****) or similar. Why not take the tiles of first and start from fresh... You could finish off underneath the sill with a small neat wooden apron.

Roughcaster.
