Hello,

My fireplace is on the main level, not the basement. The fireplace hearth has a concrete constructional hearth support. I just replaced my fireplace hearth using a concrete slab. The slab is 20" extended into a living room, 5' wide, and 8" high. It's laid on the constructional hearth.

My first estimate was to use only 2-3 bags of 80lbs concrete mix, so I wasn't worried much about its weight. After I finished the job, I used 8 bags of concrete mix, which weigh 240 kgs or 640 lbs in total. I know it's a big mis-estimate.

Now I'm worried about its weight.
1) Is it common to have a raised fireplace hearth that heavy considered that it's not on the ground?
2) Is it too heavy for the constructional hearth support?
3) Will it cause problems about structure of my house?

I really need help. Thanks in advanced for all info.
