Just had a new tiled superimposed hearth (reinforced concrete slab with hearth tiles on top) fitted on top of the constructional hearth, in preparation for a restored fireplace biring fitted.
The level of the constructional hearth was uneven and, in order to get the new superimposed hearth level, there's a gap between the superimposed hearth and surrounding floorboards - the gap is a maximum of about 2cm in places.
I plan to sand and wax the floorboards, which means the unsightly gap between the floorboards and tiled hearth will be visible.
What's the best solution? Quadrant beading / Ogee moulding around the edge of the tiled hearth?
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks.
