Question about dishwasher waste set up

Hi everyone,

I just bought a dishwasher for the first time and I have everything I need but I have a question about the waste pipe set up from the dishwasher.

It is probably 2m away from the sink connection round a corner so maybe 3-4m with the high loop/s.

My question is basically do I need 2 high loops. So I know I need one before the sink connection but do I still need to do the same behind the dishwasher? Or can I just run it level along the floor until I create the loop near the sink please?

Or should I do a gradual decline towards the sink from the top of a loop near the dishwasher?

I can add a diagram of what I mean if it helps?

I hope that makes sense and thanks very much in advance.

Only one high point required, will need a waste hose and water feed extension over that distance .
If possible better to bring the waste closer to D/W.

Ok great, thank you. It might not be as far as I originally said. It depends what can be done with routing the pipe. It might be more like 1.2m.

The quicker it rises and then falls to the waste minimises the amount of waste water that will be held in the pipe. If it's run (edit) along the floor first then rises, the pipe will always hold the water along its length when the pump stops and then the water in the rising pipe will want to flow back into the dishwasher, unless is has a one way valve (some do, some don't).

I always recommend the drain pipe rises ASAP and then kept high until it reaches the spigot, that will maximise the amount of waste water that will naturally reach the drain and minimise the backflow.

Great answer, Thank you. Now it makes more sense. I will just have to be careful to make sure I get the decline right and keep it secure so it stays in place.
Thanks, I am gonna try this way.

As long as there is a fall downwards to the spigot at the sink trap then the water will always want to run out towards the outlet where there is less resistance to flow, that coupled with gravity will help it along the way.

Ok guys I have a new question if I can please? Wasn't sure whether to start another thread or not?

I have just started taking the kitchen cabinet apart to create the space for the dishwasher but there is a copper gas pipe that runs to the cooker with an earth connection.

Is it ok to still put the dishwasher here as long as I am careful?

There is a picture below. Thanks.

Just check the dishwasher you want to get for a service void/cut-out @ the same height - not all of them are the same
