Hi all,

I have a vented CH system to drain system.

The only valve I should close is the expansion tank feed valve.

Will this drain the hot water cyclinder?

I tried to search for further info and have looked at FAQ where it tells the above.

No it won't. It will only drain the heating coil inside the cylinder. The one exception would be if your cylinder is an old primatic type. (I used to have one 25 years ago before it sprouted pinhole leaks. :( :( :( ) These fill the heating system from within the hot water tank itself so no separate header tank is needed but there's a slim chance that some plonker fitted one anyway.

If I were you I'd just drain it. In the unlikely event that you have a primatic in there, you'll know about it when the ball valve in the main cold tank opens.
