Quick Mains Question

Long story.. I'll cut to the chase.

I need to refit an external might on our garage but I don't want to take the mains off s my alarm will kick off.

Can I just trip the garage circuit from the mains to cut electric to the garage whilst I complete the job or not?

1. If the garage is separate from the other circuits, then yes you can.
2. Buy a new battery for the alarm.

Yes in the main house I have a trip switch for the entire garage electrics so I can just flick that and be done. I think that's what I've done before.
