I had bought a fan isolator switch to use for underfloor heating but my spark said it wasn't suitable and that i needed to get a different one. Now i'm ordering it but can't remember what he said - could it have been a dual core isolator (as opposed to 3 core for the extractor isolator?)?

Can someone reccommend a place to buy this because i can't find one on screwfix (which makes me think that he didn't say "dual core" afterall!

Well you need to ask him, again.
I am surprised that he isnt supplying it himself.

Its probably dual pole, but is it a fused one, or does it need an integrated RCD?

Only he will know what is required for your application and installation.

I'm asking on here because i need to order it now and can't get through to him!

I know it def wasn't a separate fuse and def not rcb either.

Surely these things are standard for underfloor heating kits? Why can i not find one to order???

Try looking for a double pole switch.

There are different varieties, chosen according to the type of load they are to supply.
Without knowing the load, the circuit design and whether any protection is required it would be too easy to end up with the wrong one again.

cam, don't get upset with us - we don't know your situation.

For instance: if the circuit you are feeding from has an RCD already then you dont need an RCD.
If the underfloor circuit is the only load one on the circuit from the fuseboard then you'll need a douple pole switch. You'll need to know the load of the floor in amps so you get the right one.

If you are feeding of a ring final circuit and it has an RCD on it then you'll need a switched fused spur (aka FCU) with the correct size fuse in it.

There are too many permutations....

Just as a last, key, question:
In what room will this floor heating be installed??

TTC.. doesn't really matter where it's being installed..

the OP does say "my spark".. so we'll assume that he's got one in..

He has, but the op can't contact him.

Cam, rather than having us guess what you need, you'll have to wait until you can get hold of your spark.

It might. There could be a requirement for supplementary protection if the UFH was to be introduced into a special location eg a bathroom....

Could be more RCDs, bonding etc..
