Hi, ive read on here about worn pumps making noises, but i don't know whether i have a problem with mine

The problem is it's quiteness, in the past ive usually heard a wushing water noise when the heating is on and now its quite, with the odd very tiny noise coming from it and then quite again

How should these pumps sound

The pump is around 9 years old

rejoice if the pump is quiet, if there is any dirt in the system a wilo gold wont last long.

the whooshing is probably air in the system.

That's great to hear, that's put my mind at ease.

Come to think of it, i had some valve/swith change a while back and the bloke said i had air trapped in the system

I've been so used to a noisy heating system :o

Cheers

you might want to get something done about it.

air in a system is not good, it can promote corrosion or it can be a by product of already serious corrosion. also if enough builds up you may end up with an airlock which can be an arse to get rid of.

thankyou for reply,

When i was getting a valve/switch thing changed, i can't remember the name of it, but it switches between hotwater and heating system the top of the pipe was a screw thing for air i was told that this had been tightened creating the air in the system, this was then altered, but this was last year 2009 the house was built in 2001 and whoever put the system in was the last to touch this screw cap thing.

I bleed the radiators on a regular basis, and have anti corrosion stuff put into the system
