R1 + R2 inconsistent readings.

Hello,

If I got R1 + R2 readings of 0.16 on a ring but in another room I got 0.49 on all sockets in there, this would appear to be a radial spurred of the ring, maybe?
As there are not any fused spurs and hoping the job is done correctly, what else could cause the higher readings?
Baring in mind that all connections at the sockets are sound. And all sockets have 2 cables entering the back of them, so this would rule out a radial...?
They seem to be on the ring, but the readings not matching.

Are you doing this using the figure of 8 method?

If so, you should get the same value at each socket. If you do not then check the terminations on the back of the suspect sockets. Also, if they are new sockets, flick the on/off switch a few times, new sockets sometimes have oxidised ontacts on the switch, and that can cause some R1 + R2 variations.

If its 0.49 on all the sockets then it must be a ring other wise the readings would get bigger as you go down the radial.

It may be a ring (thats where you get your 0.16 ohm, but someone has connected another few sockets to it and those other sockets are also a ring, so you've got two rings bolted together.

Looks like 2 rings bolted together. Going to be taking up the floor boards soon anyway, so will just re-wire that part as I need to add more sockets also.
 
Tested properly (figure of 8 ) will tell you within reason where the problem starts and you may just be able to reconfigure the existing wiring without too much expense.

I think you should draw what you have installed, do you understand the principles of the figure of 8 testing and what it acheives for you?
 
Yeah tests the complete circuit through L+N and the same on the second cable but crossed over with the first.So anywhere on the circuit the readings will be exactly the same.
All I'm going to do is pick 2 points where to come out of one socket to a JB and then from the other back to a JB, just extending the ring?
 
First time I've heard of or even seen a Wagobox!
Can you recommend a place to buy these at a good price?
 
opinions differ. They do not appear to meet the definition of a maintenance free permanent connection.

A crimped joint does.
 
Crimped joints do not need to be accessible.

Junction boxes do need to be accessible.
