Rachel Reeves says higher taxes on wealthy ‘part of the story’ for November budget

So how does the motability thing work then. Are these disability benefits that they choose to use against a car instead. ?
If you get the higher rate of the transport part then you can use this against a car, but it's not compulsory.

They include special adaptations as and when needed.

The other relevant part is that you can also use your own money to top up the amount and have a much bigger range of choice

you've stated it yourself "known as..."

You can call it whatever you like, but it's still a permit, a parking permit.
It stays with the car, It's not a badge worn by the person.
Currently, it's not possible to differentiate a motability driver from any other, unless you see the permit in the car.
But your suggestion was to make them drive a car, and only that car, designed for motability drivers.
They all have different needs and require different adaptations.

1. tax capital gains at the same rate as income tax - i know so many people who get around tax by doing this
2. Dividends again tax those at the same rate as income tax , again i know a lot of people who setup there company like this and take a very very small salary - JUST enough for threshold of TAX and NI

I think a lot of people must do that. The disabled bays in the supermarkets are always chokka with Range Rovers, Audi Q7/8,s and BMW X 7's. Those poor disabled people…..

If disabled people can afford them, why not?
Don't you think they are suffering enough, without being forced to live in penury as well?

That was going to be my point - I too have noticed this - they clearly do not need the hand out. Yes they should be able to have adaptions if needed but the car you buy should be limited in value -- if you are putting this against a BMW x7 at £114k you clearly do not need the handout.
Yes there are some cars that are not cheap where you can have a ramp that comes out the back and you drive your wheelchair right up to the steering wheel and drive off - these are amazing by the way.

Disability doesn't only affect poor people.

Or rather those well off disabled people. Disability isn't the preserve of the poor, it can affect anybody, hence why I support our welfare system, even with all of it's faults

Mbk will tell you the well off don't get any benefits though

I call it what the government call it

It is issued to a person, not to a car. They can use it in any (road legal) car.
Do you understand the concept behind "AKA"?
Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is his real name AKA Tommy Robinson.
Most people refer to him as Tommy Robinson. It doesn't alter who he is or what he is.

A badge is invariably visible at all times. A Parking permit is only visible while it's being used. And only briefly is the holder recognisable.
Badge = a small piece of metal or plastic with words or a picture on it, that you carry with you or fasten to your clothing or something else, in order to show who (or what) you are, that you are a member of a group, etc.

It is issued to a person, but there is nor requirement for that person to carry it at all times.
There is however a requirement for them to display it on a vehicle while it's being used as a permit. During it's use there is no requirement for the holder to be identified. In fact the guidance suggests it's placed face down.
It's then the vehicle that it applies to, not the person.

...- they clearly do not need the hand out.....
I don't think it's a good idea to quote Mottie, and in the same breath suggest that people who don't need the "handouts" to which they are entitled, refuse those handouts.
Mottie was very happy to collect his furlough payments, even though he didn't need them, or technically, wasn't even properly entitled to them.

Then there's the Winter Fuel Payments fiasco.
Despite the government now decided to pay all pensioners the Winter Fuel Allowance, the number of scams targeting pensioners has rocketed, asking them to register for the WFA.

Mine stands up to scrutiny in the face of facts though.

Yours is just rooted in ideology, and doesn't.

Unless you think the UK's decline only started in July 2024.
 Oh you were serious.

Do you think Reeves’ budget helped or damaged the U.K. economy? Do you think her next budget will also do the same?

She’s a hopeless failure, been sacked from almost every job she had. Masked only by a government that is also mostly a hopeless failure.
