radial loop test

sitting here thinking, dangerous i know! when i take a loop test on a radial circuit at last socket outlet, say 0.4 ohms can i then take my meter to dis board take Ze here, take one from the other and get R1 + R2 for that circuit?? my brain says yes my heart says no. am i missing something / not allowing for something?

You can do it the other way - Ze + (R1 + R2), but not the other.

The Zs reading will take account of all your parallel paths, the R1 + R2 will not (when done correctly!).

Doing it Ze + (R1 + R2) may give an optimistically high reading due to no parallel paths, so errs on the side of caution.

Doing it Zs - Ze doesnt.

Sorry, drunk a little bit after work already, does it make sense>

I re-read my post, and just changed high to low about 4 times.....I was right to begin with1
