My house has radiators that have been painted dark red. Will this make any difference to their efficiency, apart from absorbing a bit of latent heat/light?

The big lumps of steel we screw to the wall and call 'radiators' are actually convectors. Over 90% of their output is by convection, and very little by radiation.

The colour makes little, if any difference to the convection, and darker colours could increase radiation by a very small amount.

On the down side, the thickness of the extra paint layer may marginally decrease conduction away from the water flowing through the rad, but that energy isn't lost. It stays in the system, and just increases the return temperature a bit, so the boiler doesn't have to work quite so hard to re-heat the water.

So the colour makes little or no difference to the efficiency.
