Off-topic a bit, but I once stayed in a hugely expensive holiday lodge in Canada where they had installed sockets directly above the (incredibly fierce) plinth heaters they were using to heat the room. I didn't notice at first and plugged in my phone charger. I burned my hand on the plug taking it out. I asked the owner if they considered it to be safe - they didn't really respond.
£360 a night, that place cost. Ridiculous. Pretty sure the electrics were a DIY job done by the family who owned the place.
