radiator valves

hello
my new house is full of these valves..see the photo on my profile..which is the hottest setting 1 or 5..sorry to be so silly i have not used these before

Are you sure because there is very little change when I turn the setting knob to any of the numbers

The numbers relate to room temperature not water temperature. You will not see an immediate difference.
