Help please,
I cant get any of the upstairs radiators to fill, this has occurred since removing 3 dowstairs rads to decorate. the boiler will only fire up for a second then blow out the pilot. The header tank if full and ball cock working. Should I drain entire system and start again or is it the pump has suddenly packed in? where do I start, help!

Do a search on "blocked feed pipe". Garden hose on the drain cock might save the problem for another day.

Well we know it's a vented system with a fairly old boiler with 2 floors of rads, and the guy isn't a wassok but hasn't thought of everything.

SO the inhibitor might have been forgotten, and it's quite likely to have sludge in cos its old enough!
