Radiators should really be on an internal wall, so when heating not running the temperature sampled would be repetitive of the general temperature in the room, but most of ours are on the external wall under the windows, once the heating is running this is OK, but it means when not running the TRV is colder than the general room, where the TRV is not linked this is not too much of a problem, but where it is linked to the hub so it can fire the boiler, it fires up the boiler when not required.
Today, middle of summer, showing 18.5ºC (Bedroom North Wall) which in winter would be considered cold, but thermostats in centre of rooms show 22.5ºC (Living room) and 24ºC (Hall) and we have fans running to keep us cool, not quite hot enough to turn on the AC, other TRV heads dining room under the bedroom also 18ºC, hall TRV head which is likely the most central point of house 19ºC and living room 22ºC and 20ºC two radiators both under windows.
The problem is the bedroom TRV head can activate the boiler, I have just turned the set point down to stop the boiler firing up, only option I can see, is to use a wall thermostat instead, but not sure how one then stops the TRV head from firing the central heating (Wiser) all other heads are not linked, so does not matter if they open and close, as boiler is off, but want bedroom set at 18ºC in winter, but don't want boiler firing in the summer.
I assume today radiators are fitted on internal walls, but this is an old house. And to move a radiator would be a massive job.
