I can see that sistering the purlins would add weight, but I imagine that weight would go through the walls, which should be ok, no?

The weight through the walls is not the problem, it's the weight going through the purlin that's the issue

I'm only passing what i learned randomlyrandoml my extension, none of the people who do this every day have actually been on and advised yet.
