Hi,

Having looked on the Internet for ages, and come up with nothing very helpful, I'm back.....

and got alot of help from you guys, but I need to know if what my neighbour has done to our shared rainwater downpipe is actually illegal, or not, aside from it being cowboy-ish and dangerous.... nearly a week later and her cowboys haven't been back to re-fit it!

if you live above don't worry let the downpipe go all over her flue and damage her boiler in the end and the warrenty won't cover the boiler.

Have a chat to your neighbour, explain the danger to her property and the potential for damage to her new boiler and suggest that she get's them back to fix the downpipe (which is an easy and quick job).

Who owns the freehold? or do you have a part share.

Its possible your neighbour does not even own the walls if she is leasehold and should therfore have asked permision to run the flue through the wall. Furthermore the freeholder can invoice them for the pipe to be re-routed. AFAIK.

And has been poinited out the water will potentially damge her boiler and certainly result in water ingress to her flat.

Might be worth contacting local building control.
