Raising a snooker table canopy light

I've just got a table tennis top for a snooker table but have a problem with the canopy light being a slight obstruction when playing TT.

Can anyone suggest a method of being able to quickly raise the light - I was thinking of a winch system but perhaps this would be impractical and unsightly.
