Raising Ceiling Joists

I need to install an additional 8 inches of loft insulation and then place boards over the central roof section in order to store items. To do this I have been advised to add a further 6 inches to the 4 inch ceiling joists which are 35 mm thick.

Does anyone know if there are brackets (e.g. H type) that will make installing and securing the additional timber easier?
