We've been struggling with our radiators for quite some while now. We have 3 (All big) downstairs and 4 upstairs (2 big/2 tiny) They seem to work randomly. First the bottom ones were all fine...then after bleeding all were fine for a few days, then the bottom ones went, yesterday the top ones too. This morning only one of the bottom ones worked and none of the top ones. Three of the top ones were virtually empty - I bled them just now again and one took quite a few minutes before giving up any water. UPDATE: That one seems to keep draining (Had to bleed it again just now) Now all the top ones work again. The bottom three is full of water no gas comes out when you bleed. The one that worked this morning is still working. On the ones that don't work both pipes feel cold.
UPDATE: One pipe coming from upstairs is a little warmer (hot where it comes from the ceiling and cold by the time it reaches the radiator.

There's tiny amounts of dirt in them - most give up virtually clean water and one rather dirty. Nothing serious just slightly black/brown. I have a full bottle of Sentinel X100. Do I add it and where if so? There's some drum thing in the attic, where I saw some empty bottles of the stuff. Do I just chuck it in there.

The boiler is in the kitchen - then there's one thin pipe coming out of it - assumes it goes to bottom radiators and one really thick pipe which goes through the roof to a cylinder in the bathroom cupboard. The radiator in the entrance hall also has 2 thin pipes that goes through the ceiling. Those are the only visible pipes.

It appears the one (the bottom working one - kitchen) feeds off the boiler independently and seems on it's own circuit. The top ones must then come from the big cylinder (sorry don't know the English word for it) in the airing cupboard in the bathroom and the other bottom two (lounge & entrance) looks like the end of their line - the lounge one feeds off the entrance one with t-pieces.

wheres the pump etc ?
what boiler is it ?
i would say the small pipe is the gas.
and their should be two bigger pipes out of the boiler

They are all downstairs in the kitchen. The boiler thing is really old - looks like Stelrad Group - then something like IdealMexic (half worn off). It is a big white box in two parts. A thin one on top with a temperature control that slides open and then you turn it to 1-6 for the heat. On the bottom one the lid (front-face) comes off and there is a big red pump (like the one pictured in the forum) with a 1,2,3 setting. It has a big silver screw in the middle. There is also a gas flame amongst other things.

There's a big chimney like pipe going straight upstairs (quite hot) and a small white pipe coming from the side (also quite hot). Also a medium sized one that goes into the wall (also hot)

Can post photos if you like.

New pump and powerflush. Or Powerflush then new pump. Probably new boiler.
