Strange one: rangemaster electric oven was working fine then the gas engineer connected the hose and it trips the rcd as soon as you touch the oven with the gas hose…. Any ideas anyone?
Current is flowing other than from line to neutral, in the main the line is switched, but the neutral is not, so a fault neutral to earth can trip the RCD even when nothing switched on.
The gas pipe is making the earth connection, which rings alarm bells, as there should have been an earth connection without connecting the gas pipe.
In the main we do use cooker isolators, although not required, and an isolator must switch all live wires, so it also switches the neutral which is considered a live wire, so turn off isolator until fixed. Likely an element down to earth, but to test need a meter like this
so not really a DIY job as the test gear costs too much.
