I am hoping someone can help me as i am at the end of my patience. Our boiler we had before conked out on Sunday 6th May, so we brought a new one. This was fitted on thursday 10th May by a Corgi bloke and it all worked fine. Friday the water was hot and so was the rads. Then on Saturday the water started running hot and cold and had to be run a low pressure to stay warm (not hot) then the rads decided not to heat up we have looked at the pipes and discovered a small dripping leak from one of the valves and now when the boiler is turned on by the thermostat it lights up, sounds ike air is in the boiler, cuts out and bangs then repeats we are fed up with this now as it is brand new can anyone help?

i have just been told off by my partner for missing off some information appaently when he turned it on there was black something (like spitting black water) coming out of the flume ! whoops bit of vital info there! anyone got any ideas?

I do have to say that I dont think much of an installer who fits a boiler which fails within two days and he refuses to come and sort it out on the Saturday leaving you with no proper heating or hot water for the weekend.

Have you paid him in full ???

If you had called another boiler engineer and deducted his charge from monies oweing to the installer I think a County Court would support you!

Firstly, no offence, but why on earth did you have a ravenheat fitted

Banging is usually a sign of lack of or no circulation. Can you tell if pump is running?

Normally any drips or 'spitting' from the flue should be clean water. Flue should be angled upwards to stop water dripping out and should run back down to boiler.

Did installer powerflush the system at the end of install?

You really need to get installer back to check his work and possibly book Ravenheat to come in for a warranty visit.

I don't like working weekends, but if I had a customer to whom I had just fitted a new boiler, indeed any time during the warranty period, got a call off them I would go back asap (as long as I hadn't had a grolsch or bacardi or 2!)

the boiler was all working fine when he left. so today after taking off the cover on closer inspection to watch the flame light and go off we discovered that the round viewing glass, the rubber around has completely perished and the viewing glass had fallen down i think there must be something with the actual boiler rather than the instalation as the main part where the flames are is red hot to the touch even after several seconds of trying to turn it on

If seals are perished and viewing glass has dropped DO NOT use boiler as it is no longer room sealed and could be a danger to life

What a load of c*** these Ravenheats are

Its true the boilers have a bad rep however i dont know any major manufacturing faults* just make sure the system has been cleaned properly.

*although it practically eats thermistors but theyr'e fairly cheap!

the only thing I hate about ravenheats is that most of em have been installed by DIYer's

other than that I dont mind em, easy to work on, easier than most to get the parts

they do the job.
