Having some problems with our boiler. Although it will heat the house perfectly well, the hot water is another issue altogether.
It seems to only work when it feels like it, usually when we don't need it to. Sometimes the water will come out hot at first (eg for the first 5 seconds or so of us turning the hot tap on) but will then go completely stone cold. During this time you can hear the boiler kick on, but only for a few seconds.
Even then, it will only work when the full heating is on, not when set to the "summer" position. The water pressure valve seems to have a mind of its own and has more than once leaked water (could this be the issue?).
Can anyone recommend a course of action, or recommend someone affordable and trustworthy in the Stockport area?
Many thanks.

Sounds like the secondary heat exchanger to me. It can easily be replaced or if you know what to do it can also be cleaned.

Thanks!

When you say easily replaced or cleaned does that mean a plumber would do it fairly cheaply? Have to admit we're completely in the dark about it.

Hi
The plate heat exchanger is around £40 and an hours labour would be fair. The existing one can be removed and cleaned with an acid (Used for power flushing/cleaning a central heating system. This will take slightly longer but you have no parts to pay for.

plate heat exchanger? you sure? don't know this particular model, but older ravenheats had the giannoni diverter, so i would be suspecting the diaphragm if its the same type

Knowing absolutely nothing about boilers at all I'll just say this model is roughly 5 years old. So not sure if it's what you'd class as an older one...

Thankyou!

I know you're in London, but would you possibly know someone in Greater Manchester or Cheshire that would be reliable?
