RCD reluctant to reset after being isolated

I've came home to the RCD tripped, and a dead kettle, not sure what happened there and was just a case of how you describe.

However this MCB is not playing ball, it's sitting in the middle but a few flicks up and down and it eventually seems to catch.

I was just worried was some sort of possible electrical fault, but sounds like it might just need changed out

I recently removed a mains socket plate from the wall to see if I could get a look at the insulation in the cavity.
Switch off the RCD & MCB that power the socket that you opened. Have another look inside to make sure that nothing got trapped or came loose/broke off when you pushed the faceplate back on. It's possible (although unlikely) that if something did it could be causing a problem with the MCB not wanting reset.

If you can't find anything then you may have to call out a spark. :(

That was the first thing I done when it would not reset, but I knew was pretty careful as I only wanted to see if was a bit of slack to get it out for a look in the cavity but there was next to no slack at all so just put it all back.

All the connections seem good, there is a nick in one of the cables just a small one, it's only the grey part (sheath?) that covers the wires inside
