best practice to test an rcd,mounted in a distribution board controling a hand drier fed via a local spur unit.does the drier have to be taken apart to get to the terminals or just test the rcd test button at the board

Use an RCD tester anywhere on circuit after the tester. The FCU would be a good place, or the actuall terminals of the RCD. NOTE - THIS TEST IS DONE WITH A SPECIAL TESTER ON A LIVE CIRCUIT!
