Hi I wired up an outside light from a single pole switch designed for outside use fed from a 5a fuse spur.
When I plug my lamp in it trips my rcd in my board.
I know I have taken the supply from my sockets for the light but need some help, do I need to change my rcd to an mcb or c type breaker to stop this from tripping?

Can anyone help?

Firstly I would recommend that double pole isolator was used rather than single, then you can isolate that part of the circuit to prevent unwanted tripping if a fault occurs.

What is the association between plugging a lamp in and the outside light?
Are you say that when you plug a certain lamp in to the socket circuit, that the RCD trips?
Have you tried the lamp on different circuit that is protected by a different RCD?
