Power supply from house to 6 way RCD in outside shed with 1 socket. Power then to another shed at bottom of the garden. When "qualifeid electrician" wired it up everything worked but the wire was too thick in the house for the unit to fit back together. He re looked at the wiring said we need longer screws and left, it then blew the trip in the house. Can anyone help with a wiring diagram as he has taken it with him, and now we cannot get hold of him.

Which unit can't fit back together? The main consumer unit in the house?

Why do you need a wiring diagram. Also, I'm sure we would need more information, possibly supplemented with photographs.

Has he completed the work (in his mind?) or is he due to return? Have you paid in full?

Have you got an Electrical Installation Certificate off him?

How is the job being notified under Part P of the Building Regulations?
Was it pre-notified before starting or is he a member of a competent persons scheme?

So you have a thick black (maybe armour) type cable that runs between the 1st shed and the main house fuse board (CU)?

Are you saying that he terminated the cable in to the main board and that due to bulk or poor positioning the cable prevents the cover going back on

Normal situation is that the CU is plastic, the armour needs to terminate on metal for the earth to be connected to the armour of the cable, so it's terminated in a seperate box which is earthed.
This reduces the bul of the cable sheath and armour with the cores for LNE then extending through the box and on to the CU.

A picture speaks a thousand words, we need one !

Have you got a new fuse position / mcb in the CU for this cable ?

Actually I might be wrong, it could be a sub of the main rather than a circuit of the CU- No more comment untill you tell us more or post a picture.
