Just bought a vertical rad that didn't come with any instructions so I guess it doesn't matter which direction the flow is. The rad will be in a different position from the original and I will be extending the pipework to suit, I gather the valve with the knob on is usually fitted on the return side, is that correct.

the lock sheild valve is usually on the return.

the one you can turn is usually on the flow

What do you mean by "vertical"?

If you mean that one valve mounts at the top, then it would be better to make this the flow and have the wheelhead there.

The valves are at the bottom as normal, it's desribed as vertical I think because it tall and narrow ie:2000mm high x 591mm wide. Anyway turns out the drayton trv's I've bought can be fitted on the flow or return.
