Storm Ciara shifted a few of our verge tiles and knocked out all the mortar underneath.
Getting roofers in has confirmed that most of the mortar on both gable ends is cracked and falling out and really the whole lot nees replacing, so all verge tiles re-bedded.
We have plans to do work on our house this year, which will involve opening up the back (which is one of the gable ends) to put in big sliding doors onto the garden. This requires a long steel to be put in across the whole width of the house above the back doors.
Is there any chance that putting in the steel will cause enough movement in the house to crack and ruin the new verge mortar above? Or is that unlikely?
Should we just try and do a quick fix for now, and do the verges after the steel has been put in, or am I worrying over nothing?
Many thanks!
