Hi

I am taking up my energy company on the upgrade on loft insulation as the current setup is <60mm. At present the loft is 70% boarded but realise that when the new insulation is laid it will be above the existing joists. What would be the best way to put new boarding down? I don't think i'll be able to reuse any of the existing as i fear it will break up as i take this up in preparation.

Thanks in advance for your help

I am sure I have seen this question asked a few other times.

What is normally done, is to screw timber to the top of the existing ceiling joists, which is of course quite a long job. Best to buy / hire a powered screwdriver if you are doing it yourself.

This way, the insulation is not compressed when the boards are fitted.

I am not a joiner though, so wait for other answers or search for the question before.
