Re-dressed slate

I was at my local reclamation yard to buy some 9x16 welsh slates for a new roof.

They had some re-dressed slates at a great price.

The man said there was no problems using them - they looked fine.

Are there any draw backs with re-dressed slates?

I couldn't think of any but wasn't sure.

Any info appreciated.

Welsh slate will last 300yrs so they will probably outlast anything else you put on the roof.
